The Aims2Cure Charity was founded in January 1999 to fund research into finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and to help improve the quality of life of those living with the condition. We are all volunteers and are all committed and passionate about our objectives. We fund research at leading neurological institutions in the UK and through our Michele Elster Fund we provide assistance and equipment to both individuals and UK MS therapy centres which helps people with MS to have a better life. We hold fundraising events throughout the year and to date have raised £1.2 million from our kitchen tables. We are very proud of this achievement.
MS is an auto-immune condition which often starts in young adults between the ages of 20 and 40. They are often in the prime of their lives, building careers and families. MS affects people differently but can include vision problems or mobility and sensation issues. It can lead to someone requiring regular medication, hospital visits and admissions and over time, those with the condition may become less independent and have to face many issues associated with their diagnosis.
There are around 150,000 MS patients in the UK and thousands more are diagnosed every year. There is no cure for MS as yet so our research is imperative and urgent and our fundraising vital to meet our goals.
