Devon Air Ambulance Trust

About us

Devon Air Ambulance is the Charity that raises the funds to keep two emergency Air Ambulances flying, to relieve injury and illness in and across the county of Devon. Flying up to 19 hours a day, into the hours of darkness, last year in 2024 we were tasked to over 1500 patients. This is only possible thanks to the fantastic support we receive from the communities, businesses and friends of Devon. Our four Critical Care Cars allow our medical team to respond quickly by road, especially in urban areas. These vehicles continue operating when poor weather or maintenance grounds the helicopters, and they carry the same life-saving equipment as our air ambulances.

We are proud to be independent of Government and National Lottery Funding: this safeguards the service for the long-term and ensures we can deliver the best possible patient care.

Your support means we are there for our patients when they need us.

Because of you we were able to help Danny when he fell from a height when he was celebrating the last day of term with his school friends. Danny and his friends were chatting at the top of the haybarn late into the night when the haybale Danny was sitting on tipped and he fell some distance, seriously injuring his chest.

The farm was remote and phone signal unstable, but Danny’s friends sprang into action to get him the help he needed quickly.

Due to the severity of Danny’s injuries, the Devon Air Ambulance crew were dispatched. The clinicians assessed him on scene and it was clear he would need to be conveyed to Derriford Major Trauma Centre in Plymouth as quickly as possible.
