My Story

A Different Kind of Beat

On Sunday, 26th April, I will be standing on the start line of the London Marathon. This will be my first-ever marathon. The thought of running 26.2 miles is, frankly, as daunting as any operational planning I’ve undertaken as a Chief Inspector! The training is a relentless new routine of early mornings, long runs, Ramadan in the middle and a profound new respect for anyone who owns a good pair of running socks

But this run is about far more than personal achievement. I am running to raise vital funds for Children with Cancer UK.

The charity funds groundbreaking research to improve survival rates and reduce the long-term side effects of treatment, while also providing practical and emotional support to families during the most difficult of times.

How You Can Help

Firstly, Children with Cancer UK will be partnering with the West Midlands Association of Muslim Police to raise money through this year's Ramadan Experience. As the Community Lead for WM AMP this national initiative aims to raise awareness of Ramadan by non-Muslims experiencing fasting for a day. The initiative has grown over several years and has been embraced by both public and private sector businesses.

Second, If you feel able and would like to support this incredible cause, you can do so via my official fundraising page. Every single donation, no matter the size, will make a tangible difference. It will be a huge motivator when the miles get tough, knowing that our police family is behind me.

Thank you for your incredible work every day. I am proud to serve alongside you. Now, please wish me luck—I think I’m going to need it!

With best wishes,

Adhnan
