My Story
About me
My name is Ahmer Khan. I have been a runner for quite some time. Even before running my first Marathon I had already applied to run London Marathon. That was 12 years ago and even though I have successfully completed 4 Marathons in different other cities in the meantime, London remained an elusive dream. Until now.
I was very happy when Imran Khan Cancer Appeal granted me the opportunity to claim one of their London Marathon entries. Not only because it meant that that dream is about to become a reality, in sha Allah. But also, because Imran Khan Cancer Appeal is a charity that I had already supported long before I became a runner. They build and operate Cancer Hospitals in different cities of Pakistan where they provide healthcare at the highest level. Treatment for patients who could otherwise not afford the very expensive cancer therapy is financed through generous donors. I hope you will contribute to this noble cause and help me fundraise for Imran Khan Cancer Appeal. Your donations will be Zakat-eligible.
About London Marathon
The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.
Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.
What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
