My Story

On the 26th April 2026, I will be running the London Marathon in support of Crohn’s & Colitis UK — a charity that is personal to me.

I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in June 2024, having first displayed symptoms in 2009. Ulcerative Colitis is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes chronic inflammation in the colon. For me, this can mean unpredictable flare-ups, stomach cramps and fatigue.  Fortunately since my diagnosis a combination of medication and support from the charity has meant that in the main I have been well, with only a small number of flare ups in the last 18months I see that I am lucky that the medication available is working for me. However for many others ongoing funding for research is needed to develop new drugs and therapies so that those living with Crohn’s and Colitis and get the support they need.

Living with Colitis is a daily challenge for many. There are days when the pain and discomfort can be overwhelming, and at other times, the fear of an unexpected flare can make even simple activities feel daunting.

That’s why I’m running this marathon — to raise awareness of the condition and raise vital funds to help others who are affected by it. With more research, improved treatment options, and better support, we can ensure that people with Crohn’s and Colitis don’t have to suffer in silence.

Your donation will make a difference. Whether it’s for research, improving diagnosis, or supporting those living with this condition, every pound helps. If you are able to donate — no matter how big or small — it would mean the world to me, and to everyone living with Crohn’s and Colitis.

Thank you for your support and for being part of this important cause......see you at the finish line!!!
