My Story

Oi oi boomspoons...

Hope you're feeling brighter than a Berocca wee.

I'm about to don my CamelBak, give myself the full Arabian Nights of spandex-legging-clad cameltoes, and run the London Marathon in aid of Positive East: a charity who work tirelessly to improve the quality of life of individuals and communities affected by HIV, from the point of diagnosis to longer-term care.

HIV activism and education has long been a cause close to my heart, whether I'm helping to shape storylines about AIDS on the Netflix series Sex Education; raising awareness of the scientific reasearch that proves U=U on the BBC; taking part in protests about the price of HIV-managing medications like Lenacapavir; or supporting my affected neighbours, near ones and cherished dear ones at a grassroots level.

Now, I'm aiming to raise £3000 by pounding 26.2 miles of ground - that's 42.2km, although I am thinking of it as four 10ks, or eight 5ks, sandwiched together with cream and jam.

Because it's me, and I can't just jog without some extra whimsical jig, I won't simply be running the marathon, but also punning the marathon. At every mile I cross, I'll make a (probably horrendous) wordplay-based joke. There will not be rest stops; only JEST STOPS.

I'll be chasing, and quipping, and chafing my nipplings...and helping to raise a tonne o' funds to help end inequality and inequity for those living with HIV, and ultimately end HIV transmissions entirely.

I'm SO grateful for your donations, dreambeams.
