Colin's Story
Colin is my gorgeous fur baby. He's a miniature dachshund and at just 4kg he really is the definition of small but mighty! He is such a character, full of energy, love and naughtiness (if you know, you know 🤣).
Last year our lives were turned upside down when out of nowhere Colin became paralysed from the shoulders down. He was rushed to the Royal Vetinary College (RVC) for emergency spinal surgery and spent the next week in hospital, under the expert care of the RVC neurology team. We were then sadly informed he has a disease called IVDD (intervertebral disc disease) at the age of 4.
IVDD affects 25% of dachshunds and we weren't sure if Colin would ever walk again. Thankfully due to the quick action of the RVC team, Colin slowly regained his ability to walk but our journey was not over yet. Three months after his surgery, Colin relapsed and had to return to the RVC for a few more days. Again, under their watchful care and monitoring he was able to return home and the rehabilitation began once again. Fast forward to just over a year on and he's running around and causing chaos just like he always used to!
I am beyond grateful to the RVC for saving Colin's life and if it wasn't for their expert care, we may of had a very different outcome. The work they do is amazing and I want to raise as much money as possible so that other animals get another chance at life again, just like Colin has.
I would like to thank anyone who is able to support us, it is much appreciated! 🐾
