My Story

Firstly, thank you for taking time to pay any sort of attention to my fundraising page!

In April 2026, I will be running the London marathon raising money for the charity Baby Lifeline. This charity does incredible work for families with newborns as well as providing training for staff working with families with newborn babies, especially for those who may require specialist care. They are integral with helping mothers and babies survive through some of the toughest few weeks of early life and I am privileged to be part of the team able to raise money for them.

It is a charity close to our hearts as when our son Isaac was born, the birth was rather traumatic with him being extremely unwell and Angela losing an awful lot of blood. We received a lot of post natal care and thankfully Isaac and Angela weren't impacted longer term by the complications.

As many of you know I do run. Marathons however I do not run. This is going to be a real challenge. Running London has really been on my lifetime 'bucket list' of to do's before I die so I am so excited as well as a little overwhelmed! The day I signed up I got injured and then after I recovered from that, I got ill with tonsillitis so I got off to a rather false start!

If you can, please spare a few quid for what is truly an amazing cause and I will pledge to train through the grim English winter and get round as quick as I can, flying the flag for mothers and babies supported by Baby Lifeline.

I will keep you updated on my training progress along the way (sorry to those who might not want this!) and will continue to beg, steal and borrow for this amazing charity.

To begin with, September was a busy month, with national stage relays with Heanor running club on Saturday 20 (which wass my first race since injury) followed by the next weekend where I ran my local half marathon (Nottingham's Robinhood HM).

Now deep into winter the long runs start to get longer with the weather becoming more challenging and the dark nights taking hold, my cold weather woolies and head torch are certainly taking a battering and sometimes my will power to keep going when it is particularly grim!

Thank you again for your support.

Andy
