Andy's SAS London marathon 2026 fundraiser
Andy Holcroft
My Story
I'm Andy Holcroft, a chef, a runner, a photographer, a wildlife farmer/conservationist, an explorer of wild places, founder of Grub Kitchen (UK's 1st full-time edible insect restaurant) & I help with The Bug Farm, along side amazing wife Dr Sarah Beynon, with Nature Recovery at our core. I am absolutely honoured to be running the 2026 London Marathon as part of the Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) fundraising team. SAS aims to unite, empower, and support individuals to protect oceans, beaches, and wildlife through a core belief that ocean health is vital for human and ecological well-being. My aim is to raise as much money as possible for this vital charity by sharing my story, via the media of photography and moving images, of my training for this iconic event. There will be epic long runs on the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast path and back roads. Road racing and hellish Cross Country events with the Pembrokeshire Harriers team. It'll take a lot of grit and determination to train through the winter months as it gets pretty wild during the winter months here in West Wales (think mud, rain, wind, darkness)! There will be reflective moments amidst inspiring landscapes exploring seldom seen views and secret beaches, sometimes with a big, happy floppy dog called Blue! You'll get to meet Casper and Horus, our other two wonderful dogs, as well as the goats, horses, and our wonderful herd of conservation grazing Welsh Black cows. I might even get my violin or guitar out in some unexpected places! I will also explore the root cause to a lot of the pollution that impacts our water ways, rivers, brooks, ponds, streams and ergo the sea.
How can we make a difference with our choices as a consumer?
What can we do to help?
The first thing we can do is to DONATE whatever you can afford, every pound will go towards creating cleaner seas for not just us humans, but also the wildlife that calls water it's home. It doesn't have to be a one-off donation, you can actually donate multiple times!
How can we get involved?
Become a member of SAS... find out about the actions and good habits we can all adopt: the time to 'keep quiet' about certain human activities that indiscriminately pollute our waterways is over.
How can we speak out, and where..?
Social media rants are all very well and good, but how else can we report, and make enforcing bodies aware of damaging environmental issues and events?
Oh, and I will also work as hard as possible, ride the highs and battle through the lows, to smash my Marathon PR of 2:59 at London Marathon 2026!
