My Story

On Saturday 25th April 2026, our children will be taking part in the TCS Mini London Marathon 2026 to raise money for Croydon Health Charity — a cause that means so much to our family.

Our daughter Anaiya, aged 7, has faced repeated acute hospital admissions since she was just 9 months old due to complex and rare medical conditions. Over the years, she has received exceptional care at Croydon University Hospital, particularly on the Rainbow Children’s Ward and within the High Dependency Unit, where teams work closely with the six specialist consultants mainly at St George’s Hospital who are currently overseeing her care.

During some of the darkest times, we have seen first-hand the incredible difference that charity funding makes — from improving facilities to supporting young patients through their most challenging moments.

Last year, Anaiya was admitted to the Rainbow Children’s Ward at the very time she had hoped to run the Mini London Marathon. It was a devastating moment for her. This year, however, she is determined to make it to the starting line and, together with her siblings, Akira and Deeyan, run down The Mall and cross that iconic finish line.

By taking part, they hope to give something back to the hospital and the teams who have cared for Anaiya over the years, and to help other children who find themselves unwell in hospital.

Please support them if you can and help us raise money for this truly special cause that supports so many families in our community.

Thank you,

Anita and Rakesh Sangani
