My Story

Ten years ago this year I ran the Brighon Marathon in aid of Rockinghorse, the brilliant children's charity that is the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton. I ran for Rockinghorse because the charity and its wonderful workers helped my infant daughter Elsie when she was hospitalised aged 1 in 2015. Luckily for Elsie, she was only in hospital for a few days, but thanks to Rockinghorse she was able to access sensory rooms, play equipment and toys, which made her stay so much more bearable.

In the ten years since that time, Elsie has been a regular visitor to the Alex, for a long-standing minor medical condition, and has benefitted from Rockinghorse-funded toys, books, play resources and activities.

But Rockinghorse do so much more than these small (but important!) interventions. They fund and deliver life-saving medical equipment such as neonatal ventilators and lataroscopy sets. They develop innovative quiet rooms and sensory gardens for young patients and rest rooms for hard-working junior doctors. On top of all this, they fund cutting edge research to help drive children's healthcare forward.

Very excitingly, I have been offered the chance to run the London marathon this year and it seems only fitting to complete this challenge while raising funds once again for Rockinghorse. Please help me to raise as much money as possible for this brilliantly worthwhile cause.

THANK YOU!!
