My Story
On Sunday 26th April, I’ll be running the London Marathon – and I’m doing it for something far bigger than a finish line.
My chosen charity is Great Ormond Street Hospital – supporting the incredible children and families who face battles no child ever should.
This run is personal.
My name is Ant. I’m 46 years old and I’m currently living with stage 3 double lung cancer.
This past year has been me vs me.
I’ve been living with double lung cancer and have been through major surgery, radiotherapy every day for six weeks, Red Devil chemotherapy, and now ongoing immunotherapy – all within one year.
I’m still going. I’m still working. And I’m still doing everything I can to beat it.
I also want to do my children proud.
The support I’ve had from my family, friends and everyone around me has become my fight against this.
Throughout my own journey, I’ve kept thinking about the children at Great Ormond Street.
They are our future.
No child should have to suffer – and if I can turn my fight into something that helps them and their families, then every mile I run will be worth it.
I’ve watched the start and the finish of this race for years and always felt the pull to one day unlock this achievement for myself.
This year, I finally am.
Because creating moments creates memories – and this is one I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.
If you can donate – no matter how small – you’ll be helping to support life-changing care, vital research and hope for children who need it most.
