My Story
Next April, I’ll be running the London Marathon on behalf of our whole family, in memory of our amazing aunty, sister, and daughter Katie, to raise money for Epilepsy Action.
Katie was diagnosed with severe epilepsy at the age of seven, and it completely changed her life. Surrounded by our big, loving family - my nan and grandad, her nine brothers and sisters, and later all of us nephews and nieces - she lived each day surrounded by love until we sadly lost her suddenly in January 2018.
Katie had a big heart and a great smile. She loved the sound of music, a cheese sandwich, and a milky cup of tea (so she could drink it straight away!). Katie was infamous for having “her seat”, which always had the best view of the telly and a place for her tea and sandwich next to her! My favourite memories are of sitting together, playing cards - she usually won!
By fundraising for Epilepsy Action, we hope to honour Katie’s memory and help others living with epilepsy get the support, information, and understanding they need. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference.
This one’s for you Aunty Katie. 💜
P.S. Her Birthday was on Valentine's Day and the above photo was taken at her 50th Birthday Celebration with all of our family! Hopefully you can spot her in the middle on the bottom step!
