My Story

Hi, I'm Ben and thank you for visiting my page! 

Back in 2023, my Wife lost her Mum, Karen, to this awful cancer. We didn't know too much about pancreatic cancer until it was thrust into our lives and we all started learning the awful truth about it. 

It is the deadliest common cancer. The brutal reality is that diagnosis comes far too late for most people. Karen was so incredibly strong and managed to fight for just short of 2 years. However, half of people die within three months of diagnosis. So, families are left with only hope to hang on to.

But hope is not enough. The disease must be detected sooner.

And it can be.

Thanks to the work of Pancreatic Cancer UK's dedicated team of researchers, a simple test to detect the cancer earlier is within reach. It just needs more funding. 

Which is where your donations come in! I'm going to dedicate all of my energy into running this marathon, firstly for Karen but also to give other families a chance of detecting this horrible cancer early!
