My Story

SENSE is a very personal charity for our family. My daughter, Joanna who is 42, has been attending the Sense Touch Base South East day centre for over 22 years. This remarkable facility has transformed Joanna's life and ours. Instead of looking at what Joanna can't do they have encouraged the positives, no matter how small and not noticed by so many, helping her self-confidence and self-esteem grow. They help her feel safe and secure and to understand a world that we take for granted. SENSE offers hope for families who are often desperately looking for the right support for their loved ones and I am proud to have this opportunity to help them raise much needed funds so they can continue to help and support many more families. This link is of someone who Joanna knows well, who is blind and has complex disabilities. It shows just what wonderful opportunties the SENSE organasation can provide for enabling people to access experiences they may never have thought possible https://www.sense.org.uk/blog/leading-hazel-off-the-side-lines-and-onto-the-ski-slopes The London Marathon is an event which will push me to my limits, especially as I have never run before only completing the C25K in November 2025, but for such a worthy cause I will endeavour to commit to the challenge with gusto. Any amount you can donate, no matter how small, will be so gratefully received and spur me on to do my absolute best.
