Billy’s running a marathon (again!)
Billy Welsby
My Story
Three years ago I ran my first marathon after promising myself I'd do something to mark each decade of my life... unfortunately when I was 30, COVID hit and that delayed it by 2 years but after the first time I swore I would never run again.
Then I met the wonderful Kaz!
A friend of my lovely boyfriend, Luke, Kaz is probably one of the most inspirational women I've ever met... she's a mother, a wife, a business owner, an influencer and most importantly A SURVIVOR.
Kaz's story is truly one of triumph. A breast cancer survivor she now runs Wigs for Heroes, a charity dedicated to providing stunning wigs and hair pieces to the 1 in 2 of us who will experience cancer in their lifetime. Alongside the Heroes Haven, a Tottenham-based charity shop, Kaz and her entire team are paving the way for those of us affected by cancer by supporting people undergoing cancer treatment in the local communities in the UK. This could be in the form of a wig grant, pamper bags, cancer support workshops, events/meet ups, online support groups, coffee club socials or simply via the provision of helpful online resources and video tutorials.
I'm running the London Marathon for many reasons (hello bragging rights) but mainly because it's rare to meet somebody in every day life who can inspire you the way that Kaz and the Wigs for Heroes team do so I'm running for them and for everyone they're helping on this journey.
