My Story

Welcome! On 26 April 2026, I will run the TCS London Marathon (with an inflatable walking stick for older people) to fundraise for Age UK, the leading charity for older people (https://www.ageuk.org.uk/).

Excitingly, the marathon is set to be history’s biggest (59,000 runners and 1.1M applicants): https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cly7w2w224do#:~:text=Who%20is%20taking%20part%3F,ballot%20applications%20submitted%20for%20places

Fundraising: Age UK offered me a marathon ticket just 7 weeks before the race so we would greatly appreciate any support for their work. Even £5-£20 would make a big difference. Age UK is helping thousands of older people who are lonely, vulnerable, or struggling with daily life through phone calls (>200,000), practical support, friendship services, and campaigns for older people's rights (https://www.ageuk.org.uk/our-impact/the-difference-your-support-can-make/).

Any support to them is deeply appreciated, as we are passionate about and fighting for the same cause: helping people stay happy, healthy, and productive for longer. I have dedicated my career to developing therapies that reverse ageing to extend our healthy lifespans and help treat the age-related diseases that cause immense suffering, including cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and cardiovascular disease.

If you donate, I would be more than happy to:

-Give personalised advice on longevity habits, including nutrition, supplements, sleep, and exercise (My rate of ageing, 8 months per year, is among the 30 slowest in the world).

-Help you start and maintain new longevity habits. For example, I have adopted strategies to be able to exercise every day (in a time-efficient way) for several years and combined it with a longevity lifestyle.

For example, I have been training for the marathon in a longevity-friendly way, following a vegan, whole-food diet (with optimised vegetable types), and an 18-hour fasting routine (I aim to only eat between 7 am-1 pm). I also exclude foods that elevate my blood sugar, including pastries, rice, and white potatoes (based on continuous blood glucose monitors). For example, I mainly carb-loaded with sweet potatoes, berries, oats, and rye bread for the Cambridge Boundary Half Marathon on 15th March 2026.

I’m running with an inflatable cane, in alignment with Age UK’s work for older people and my research on aging and rejuvenation. I’ve wanted to run the London Marathon with a fun prop for many years, since I saw the Guinness World Records marathon costumes (things like telephone boxes, Big Ben, etc. https://www.olympics.com/en/news/london-marathon-2026-guinness-world-records-attempts)

Running the London Marathon is a dream come true. I have tried to get a place for the past five years, so it is deeply inspiring that I can finally run and finish in front of the most vibrant marathon crowd at Buckingham Palace.

It would mean a lot if you can donate for example £5, £10, or £25 to Age UK. Many thanks for supporting older people and helping make this experience possible. Your support also fuels my motivation to help extend our healthy lifespan.

All the best,

Bjorn Fraser Olaisen
