My Story

I am running the London marathon for The Aplastic Anemia Trust; the only charity in the Uk that supports people diagnosed with this condition.

In August 2023 my little brother Hayden was diagnosed with liver failure and spent a month in Birmingham Children's Hospital, at only 8 years old. This caused him to develop severe Aplastic Anemia: a life threatening blood disorder that causes bone marrow to fail and stop producing the vital blood cells needed to survive. After his diagnosis in December 2023, he spent months in and out of hospital with infections and extremely low blood levels resulting in him needing weekly blood and platelet transfusions. Due to him being immunosuppressed, he could no longer live a normal life missing school, football and not being able to see family and friends. In July 2024, he had his stem cell transplant from an unrelated donor in Germany which ultimately saved his life. He spent 2 months in hospital in isolation where he underwent chemotherapy, conditioning treatments and eventually his transplant followed by a tough, long year of recovery.

After witnessing what he had to go through during this time it has inspired me to raise awareness and money for the charity that have supported our family through this tough time and we would really appreciate any donation you can spare 🫶🏼🫶🏼 Thank you.
