My Story

About Me!

My name is Charlie and I was diagnosed with cancer in the lungs in 2017. This came as a complete shock to me!! The cancer was spreading so I had to endure  intense chemotherapy and surgery to remove the tumours that were left. Thankfully in 2018, I was told I was in remission. I regard myself as a fit individual,  I am a physical trainer with the Metropolitan Police and a keen runner. But what my story highlights is cancer doesn't discriminate,  anyone can get it!! I truly believe that being fit, helped me to cope with the intensity of the treatment.

Which brings me onto this amazing charity! I am running the TCS 2026 London Marathon for MOVE AGAINST CANCER . The charity supports people with cancer through the power of movement and exercise.  They have 5k-your-way groups throughout the UK that connect with Parkrun on the last Saturday of the month to encourage movement and exercise, while providing support for cancer sufferers and survivors in a group setting. Research has shown that exercise and movement helps to support those going through cancer both physically and mentally which is vital in terms of recovery from this awful disease.

The charity needs vital funds to continue to promote the groups, to fund setting up more groups, and to support their work with other cancer charities,  organisations and the NHS.

I want to do what I can to help fund the charities vital work, in supporting people going through or recovering from cancer. So please help me to raise as much money as possible, to help people going through cancer to BEAT IT!!

THANK YOU

Charlie
