My Story
I'm running the London Marathon 2026 as part of Team Starlight!
So… I’ve decided to run the London Marathon. Yes, you read that right. Me. The person whose approach to life is usually more “wing it and hope for the best” than “train with military precision.” I am under no illusion...this is going to hurt. A lot. It’s going to take stamina, determination and discipline… none of which feature heavily in my current repertoire. My usual cardio consists of running late, not running 26.2 miles. But that’s exactly why I’m doing it - because it’s a challenge that will push me mentally and physically in ways I’ve never experienced before. Eeeeeeeeek!
More importantly, it’s a chance to raise funds for an incredible charity: Starlight. They believe play isn’t just something kids do when the serious stuff is over - it’s actually 'part' of the serious stuff. For children facing illness, play is how they cope, learn and find joy in the middle of medical treatment. Starlight works to make play an essential part of every child’s healthcare, so that no child misses out on laughter, imagination and the simple magic of being a kid...even during the hardest of times.
Starlight are not just cheerleaders for the power of play, they’re working with hospitals, health professionals and policymakers to make sure play is written into treatment plans, backed by science and a whole lot of heart. That means more smiles, more giggles and more moments of joy for children and families when they need it most.
Every donation - big, small or somewhere in between will spur me on more than you can ever imagine. Think of it as sponsoring me and fuelling the incredible work Starlight does. Plus, the more you give, the less chance I have of bailing halfway and “accidentally” finding the nearest pub. So please, dig deep, cheer me on, and together let’s make this marathon hurt for all the right reasons and make a real difference to some very brave little people.
