My Story

A year ago I ran the marathon and could say it was for my Mum. Sadly this year I will be running it in her memory after she died just over six months' ago.

At the time, a really difficult few days with her in hospital was massively helped by the League of Friends Musgrove Park, who out of nowhere informed us that there was a bungalow on-site that we could use to get some sleep on what proved to be her final night. It was an amazing resource, that allowed us to get some much-needed rest.

It's the sort of offering that can be massively helpful regardless of the reasons for visiting the hospital, and can support families and loved ones in any situation.

As well as my Mum, I'll also be running on behalf of my incredible wife in memory of our little bean, after we lost what would have been our first child in February. At that time we were fairly regular visitors to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, where there is also League of Friends support.

I'll admit I've really struggled for the motivation to train and take on the marathon this year after the past six months (and putting so much in a year ago) but the F1 calendar might not allow another attempt, and I wanted to make some sort of positive use of my place. So anything you can give to support League of Friends will be massively appreciated. Thank you all so much.
