My Story
About us
Running for Maggie’s Legacy: From Heartbreak to Hope at the TCS London Marathon 2026.
On 26th April 2026, I’ll be lacing up my running shoes and taking on the TCS London Marathon — not just for the challenge, but for a cause that’s deeply close to my heart: The Margaret Adcock Foundation, a registered charity based in Hilton, Derbyshire.
This run isn’t just 26.2 miles of endurance — it’s a journey of love, remembrance, and purpose.
💖 About Maggie
Margaret “Maggie” Adcock was just 18 when she tragically lost her courageous battle with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma in June 2023 — a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Despite unimaginable pain, Maggie remained a light to everyone around her: thoughtful, kind, and endlessly positive. Her smile could brighten the darkest day, and her words continue to inspire us all:
“My message is to live every day as it comes. Find and do things that genuinely bring you joy. No one’s tomorrow is guaranteed. Be grateful for everything and you will find yourself enjoying everything a little bit more.”
That message has become the beating heart of The Margaret Adcock Foundation, founded by Maggie’s parents to carry forward her legacy of kindness and hope.
🌼 The Foundation’s Work
The Margaret Adcock Foundation is committed to transforming lives through Education, Support, and Research.
In just two years, the foundation has:
Supported over 150 families across the East Midlands facing childhood cancer, providing one-off grants to ease financial pressures.
Donated vital funds to cancer research through a partnership with Alice’s Arc, advancing the fight against Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma.
Sponsored disadvantaged young people to attend university — opening doors to brighter futures.
Provided over 300 school children with essential supplies and hygiene kits, helping them start their educational journeys with dignity and confidence.
Every mile I run and every pound raised will help continue this incredible work — to give hope where it’s needed most and to honour the shining legacy of a young woman who taught us how to truly live.
🕊️ Why I’m Running
Running the London Marathon will test every ounce of my strength, but Maggie’s courage inspires me to keep going — one step at a time.
She faced her battle with unshakable determination and grace; the least I can do is run in her name and help her light continue to shine.
