Christian Brown
My Story
Unfinished Business
So, last year I was meant to do the marathon for Health Poverty Action...however, on my final long run in April before the big day, my knees decided to give out.
The physio identified the issue as an IT band problem (connects your hips to your knees) and as I'm writing this in late July, nearly four months after that fateful final long run, I've finally been cleared to go running again! Woo!
The only thing that's been on my mind from a sporting perspective since that injury is crossing the line in 2026 and getting that medal. So, you better believe that's exactly what's going to happen. To use The Simpsons as inspiration...
"Society put Christian Brown away for his injuries. But he's paid his debt and now he's going to get revenge... on the London Marathon 2026."
The fact it's for a great cause and charity, who were absolutely fantastic with me when I had to ask about a deferral, has made me even more determined to cross that line and I can't wait to properly start my training again.
For those unaware, Find Your Feet are a linked charity of Health Poverty Action and their goals are very similar - they enable poor rural families in Asia and Africa to grow enough food so they don’t go hungry, while strengthening their voice so they can speak out against injustice and allowing them to earn enough money so they can find their feet.
It's a brilliant cause made up of brilliant people and I'm very proud to be representing them at the marathon. My target is £2k, but excluding GiftAid, I managed to raise £325 for last year's fundraiser. With GiftAid, it was £380 and as such, my target aim has been reflected accordingly at £1620.
That £325 was made up from the following donations:
10 - Jeff Sims
25 - Dean Spurrell
101.70 - Charity quiz night
5 - Alan Ng
5 - Emma Hennis
5 - Ann Harrison
10 - Andrew Osborne
50 - Ash and Emily
80 - Emily, Ben and Felix Sherwood
10 - Jess Bingley
5 - Suz Aiano
10 - Binit Patel
10 - NFFCBod
A colossal thank you to everyone who donated - I'm sorry I couldn't get the job done last year, but I'll be making up for that in 2026.
See you at the finish line.
