My Story

I'm running the London marathon for MedEquip4Kids. This will be my first ever marathon!

MedEquip4Kids' mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of children in the UK by providing equipment and resources that the NHS is unable fund.

Since 1985, they have raised over £25 million to fund neonatal medical equipment, sensory and play facilities in hospitals, specialised equipment for disabled children, and mental health support for CAMHS. They have helped over 8 million young people live happier, healthier lives.

Katie's story

At 13, Katie was referred to CAMHS with severe anxiety and depression after losing her dad to suicide.

Using simple resources like craft materials and workbooks, staff helped her open up about her feelings. Once Katie had a better understanding of what her triggers might be, she was able to develop her own coping strategies with support from staff. Counselling sessions with feelings flashcards allowed Katie to communicate with her family, helping them build trust and move forward together.

Today, Katie is back at school full-time and volunteering with St John’s Ambulance, inspired to help others.

Stories like Katie’s show how your donation can fund therapeutic resources that transform a child’s future.

Anything you can give will make a huge difference. Thank you!
