My Story

ChatGPT is a hell of a tool, think I might have told it too much. Anyway, before we get to the A.I. babble, I’m running the London Marathon for the RFU Injured Players Foundation. There’ll be some craic and events on the way to the fundraising target, but in the meantime, please donate generously.

Now for a glimpse into our technological future with some LinkedIn level bullshit:

If you’d told me a couple of years ago that I’d willingly run 26.2 miles, I’d have asked what you were smoking, yet here we are: I’m running the 2026 London Marathon for the RFU Injured Players Foundation. I’m doing it for a reason that’s bigger than blisters, manky toe nails, bad decisions, and the inevitable existential crisis.

Rugby has been the heartbeat of my life for as long as I can remember. It’s given me friendships, a career, unforgettable moments, a purpose and most importantly a direction in life I'd have been lost without. It’s shaped who I am and how I live.

But rugby also comes with risk. Every match, every tackle, every ruck, players put their bodies and wellbeing on the line for the game we love. Particularly at community level where there is no compensation, just a sheer love of the game and what it gives you. I've had my fair share of significant injuries: arthritis, limps and a walk like a duck with pointy out foot.

The RFU Injured Players Foundation steps in when the unthinkable happens. When a life-changing injury turns a world upside down, the IPF is there supporting injured players and their families physically, emotionally, financially for the long haul. They don’t just patch people up, they rebuild lives.

I’ve seen the impact of their work throughout my time in rugby. It’s powerful. It’s vital. And it deserves every ounce of support we can give it.

This marathon is also part of a personal mission. Over the last couple of years, I’ve been through some personal ups and downs. Running has become a symbol of taking my life, health, and happiness back into my own hands.

So now, I’m combining two things that define me: my love for rugby, and my determination to keep becoming the strongest version of myself.

The IPF changes lives.

They support the players who paid the highest price for playing the sport we all adore.

Every donation helps them keep doing that, providing essential care, rehabilitation, equipment, mental health support, and hope to those who need it most.

I’m running the miles.

You can make the impact.

If you can donate, share, cheer, or even just pretend you believe I’ll finish under six hours, I’m grateful.

Let’s make every step count. For the players who need us and for the sport we love. 🏉❤️🤍🏃‍♂️
