My Story

In 2026 I will be running the London Marathon (26.2 miles) for the amazing charity supporting the Bath Royal United Hospital, RUHX.

Some of you will know, some of you may not, but the Bath RUH have been supporting our family since the premature birth of our Son, Benjamin in 2018 through to his recent diaganosis of Type 1 diabetes in 2025.

All of the staff at the RUH have been nothing short of amazing on our journey,  saving Benjamin's life on two occassions and going above and beyond the call of duty on many more.  The hospital continue to support us all with his recent life long diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes.  It only seems right to give something back, and I am honorued that RUHX have chosen me to run the London Marathon for them in 2026.

This will be my first Marathon and although I enjoy running and have previously completed half marathons this will not be a 'walk in the park'. I estimate approximately 100 training runs will be needed to get me Marathon ready, many will be in the early morning in the depths of the English winter!

Please can I ask you to donate to this amazing cause, as much as you can, it really doesnt matter, but if you could donate something that would be great.  Here is a link to the specific campaign I am raising funds for, it would have helped Benjamin so much if the hospital had this facility last year.

Thank you so much, Benjamin, Janey and David

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
