My Story
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to pay a visit to my sponsorship page.
This year I will be taking part in my 5th London marathon, and the 5th London marathon that I will be raising money for the PBC Foundation.
I am excited and proud to be once again representing the PBC Foundation, it is a charity and cause very close to my heart. The charity supports and provides information to people living with PBC and their families. They also take part in research to help improve treatments.
PBC is an autoimmune disease that affects the liver. It is classed as a common rare disease and affects 9 women to every 1 man. The common age of diagnosis is between 35 & 55 and there are an estimated 22,000 PBC patients in the UK.
Currently there is no cure for PBC but, since I first ran the London marathon back in 2016, the life expectancy of a person with PBC has improved to the point that it doesn't necessarily mean a reduced life expectancy, and this incredible progress is in part down to the fantastic PBC Foundation.
For more information, please take a few minutes to visit their website www.pbcfoundation.international
Thank you for taking the time to read my page; if you would like to find out more, please get in contact with me.
Training for my 5th London marathon started back in December 2024, I have been consistently running since, increasing the mileage each week. During 2025 I took part in several half marathons, all with an eye to the big one in April 2026. I will try/endeavour/might, provide training updates on my page, keep an eye out - but if you can’t be bothered to check here to see if I have updated the page to show off about how far I have been running, the key takeaway will be: I promise to run a lot (January 2025, I am on course for a total of 358km), put the graft in, do my best and do the PBC foundation justice.
Hopefully see a few people around the course on marathon day.
