My Story
🌿 London Marathon 2026 – Supporting The Gardens Trust 🌿
Hello you! Thank you so much for finding the time to click into my fundraising page.
On 26th April 2026, I’ll be taking on the London Marathon, 26.2 miles through the capital, to raise money for The Gardens Trust, a UK national charity that dedicates to researching, protecting and conserving historic parks, gardens and landscapes.
About myself:
I’m Ed, and I’ve always had a love for the environment. I enjoy getting hands-on in the garden, feeling the soil between my fingers, and taking the time to really appreciate the beauty of plants, flowers, and trees. In my free time, I enjoy visiting National Trust sites, wandering through parks, or going for a good trail walk. One of my favourite weekly rituals is doing parkrun, and I’ve been lucky enough to experience some truly special locations like Trentham Gardens, Wollaton Park, Belton House, Erddig Hall, Fountains Abbey, and more, all of which left me completely mesmerised. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for historic green spaces and reminded me how much they enrich our wellbeing.
The Gardens Trust:
When I first came across The Gardens Trust, I realised just how important it is that they do in the preservation of many historic sites, landscapes, and monuments. As majestic as these places appear, they require a monumental amount of care, upkeep, and dedication to ensure they can continue to be enjoyed by the public. As a smaller charity, they face significant challenges in gaining visibility, despite the importance of their mission, and I firmly beleve that greater awareness and support would allow them to continue and expand their valuable work.
The London Marathon:
Running has always been a hobby of mine, so this felt like a challenge that sits just within the realms of what I might be able to achieve. I’ve heard countless inspiring stories about this iconic event and the incredible fundraising efforts behind it, with so many charities benefiting from the determination and generosity of those who take part. This April, I have the honour of running the London Marathon, a long-standing personal goal that I am incredibly grateful to finally achieve after many years of unsuccefful applications.
Seeking your support:
In the coming months, I’ll be sharing regular training updates and fundraising efforts. There will be many miles logged, hopefully outdoors, soaking up everything that Mother Nature has to offer. That said, if the weather (or daylight!) isn’t on my side, you’ll probably see a few indoor sessions and treadmill miles woven into the training plan too. Either way, every step will be taken with this cause in mind.
If you feel that you can support me and The Gardens Trust on this journey, even a small donation would make a real difference. Every contribution would help in preserving these sites, ensuring they can be enjoyed for many generations to come.
Final appreciation:
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story. Follow my journey, and consider supporting this wonderful cause. Your encouragement, whether through a donation, a message of support, or simply sharing this page, truly means the world to me.
