My Story

Hello, my name is Edward Ndiritu, and I am the Head of the Anti-Poaching Unit at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya. Under my tenure, there has been zero rhino poaching. It is a record I am deeply proud of and one I am fully committed to protecting.

On Sunday, 26 April 2026, I will be trading my ranger boots for running shoes as I take on the London Marathon. It is a different kind of endurance test, but the mission remains the same.

I will not be running alone. I am joining Save the Rhino International’s “crash”, a dedicated group charging through 26.2 miles of London’s streets with a shared purpose. Every step we take is for a species that cannot speak for itself yet urgently needs us to act.

The reality facing rhinos is stark. Three of the world’s five rhino species are now at extremely high risk of extinction. Poaching, habitat loss, and the accelerating climate crisis continue to place immense pressure on their survival. Yet we still believe in a future where all five species thrive in the wild.

By supporting me, you are not simply cheering on a runner. You are helping to strengthen frontline protection, support the communities living alongside rhinos, and disrupt the criminal networks driving the illegal rhino horn trade. These actions save lives, both animal and human.

Together, let us make sure the only place rhinos disappear is into the horizon of a protected wild.
