My Story

This April, I’ll be taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon — 26.2 miles that will push me physically and mentally. This race, however, is about far more than a finish line. I’m running for The Footprints Foundation, a charity doing vital work for some of the most impoverished people in rural South Africa.

In 2024, I had the privilege of travelling to South Africa with The Footprints Foundation to witness their work firsthand with a group of volunteers from BPE and other businesses. While there, we worked alongside local communities to help build a church that serves as far more than a place of worship. It is now a central hub for the community, including being the site of feeding stations that will provide essential meals to those who need them most – for some people, giving them the only meal they will eat that week.

We also visited local schools, where we assisted with food stations and spent time with children whose resilience and positivity were deeply moving. For many of these children, the meals provided through Footprints Foundation aren’t just helpful — they are essential. Without them, many would go without the nutrition needed to learn, grow, and simply get through the day. It made me realise how often we take easy access to food for granted here in the UK.

What struck me most was how urgent the need really is. The Footprints Foundation supports people facing poverty, hunger, illness, and disadvantage — both in the UK and internationally. The funds raised through this marathon will go directly towards helping those who need it most, supporting feeding programmes, community projects, and life-changing initiatives that offer dignity, stability, and hope.

That’s why I’m committing to this challenge. Every training run and every difficult mile is motivated by the people I met and the communities I was able to help with The Footprints Foundation, and the opportunity to continue offering this help.

I would also like to say a huge thank you to BPE Solicitors, who have supported me throughout this marathon journey and continue to assist The Footprints Foundation and the incredible work it does. Their encouragement and ongoing commitment to the charity make a genuine difference, and I’m incredibly grateful for their backing.

The race isn’t too far away now, and with your support, every step I take will already be helping to change lives.

Thank you for supporting my run, and for helping The Footprints Foundation continue leaving footprints where they are needed most. See you at the finish line!
