My Story
I'm walking the TCS London Marathon 26 for Grassroots Suicide Prevention. By supporting my journey, your helping to fund vital resources, raise awareness and empower communities to talk openly and safely and daily about suicide and save lives.
Thank you for supporting my mission. Let's take every step together toward a world without suicide.
I have been working for Grassroots Suicide Prevention for the last 2yrs a charity that means so much to me having survived my own several traumatic suicide attempts which hid the pains despairs of silent addictions and struggles masked with I'm fine whilst fighting to get through another day
In that despair and darkness Grassroots Suicide Prevention gave me the light strength hope I so desperately needed to keep living and grow the Emily I am today and I'm nearly 3yrs suicide attempt free because of Grassroots saving me in the despair and darkness
Working for Grassroots Suicide Prevention in the lived experience advisory group, staying alive app project, women's hub, education and medical training projects and building further lived experience and womens projects is one of the most rewarding roles I have undertaken and it's a privilege to be there for others and share my story of experiences of gambling addiction masking neurodiversity depression anxiety trauma eating disorders self harm physical disabilities trauma and suicide to offer hope and be the light and lifeline in someone else's struggle to be able to remove their masks and reveal their true authentic selves
Having my own disabilities I will be completing the 26.2 London Marathon on crutches whilst it will be a challenge it's nothing compared to the challenges that people face with mental health, trauma, grief, silent addictions and suicide. I will be using the Marathon to offer hope empowerment and to give the message that never be ashamed of your story it will empower and inspire others and become someone else's survival guide
I'm so grateful to have amazing friends family and colleagues supporting me a long the way and I would be so grateful for support no matter how big or small from others
The greatest gift you can ever give is to change and save a life and offer hope which is one of the most beautiful things in the world
The bravest thing I ever did was continue to live when I wanted to die
Your support is so appreciated thankyou so much
