My Story
Hello everyone!
Firstly, I would like to thank you all for sponsoring me to run the London Marathon and to raise money for Maggie's.
Unfortunately, I have picked up a bone stress injury on my hip so I won't be able to run this year. I am devastated, however Maggie's have kindly agreed that I can defer and run next year. This means that your money and kindness will still support me and this worthy cause - just a little later than expected!
Thank you again,
Emma š
Iāve had the unexpected good luck of securing a place in the London Marathon! Honestly, I never thought of myself as a runner but Iāve always loved taking on new fitness challenges and seeing what Iām capable of. This one feels like the ultimate test ā equal parts exciting and daunting. What makes it even better is that Iāll be running it with my fitness buddy and friend, Katie Davidson. Having her by my side turns the whole journey into something even more meaningful and I canāt wait to discover what this adventure brings.
Iām truly honoured to be running in support of an incredible charity ā Maggieās. Maggieās exists to bring comfort, strength, and hope to people and families living with the impact of cancer.
Maggieās Centres offer practical and emotional support to people with any type of cancer, at any stage, for free. They receive no government funds and rely on the generosity of their supporters. They focus on the things that really make a difference, such as financial worries, housing, help with managing stress and anxiety as well as side effects of treatment and they offer family support. They offer this through 1-1 support or group sessions.
There are 24 centres in the UK and 4 in London, welcoming 100+ visitors into each centre every day. They are an amazing sanctuary and the funds raised will help support the existing centres and perhaps even go some way to help the goal to build more centres alongside hospitals that treat cancer in the UK.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Every bit sponsorship you can give will make a huge difference and is truly appreciated. Iām so grateful for your support!
