My Story

This will be my third consecutive year running the London Marathon. In the past, I’ve run for large charities, but this time it feels far more meaningful to support a smaller, yet equally vital, charity: the Childhood Cancer Parents Alliance.

I have seen first-hand the lasting impact cancer can have on a family, even long after the words “all clear” are spoken. My wife’s cousin’s family experienced this when their daughter was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma on her first birthday. While we are incredibly grateful that she has now been in remission for eight years, that journey doesn’t simply end. Living with the effects of childhood cancer brings ongoing challenges that families continue to face every day.

Running for CCPA means supporting families who are navigating some of the hardest moments imaginable. It’s also deeply personal for me, as my sister, Sophie, works for CCPA, and being able to run in support of the work she does makes this challenge even more special. I’m also someone who truly loves running. I keep telling myself this will be my last London Marathon — although, if I’m honest, I said the same thing last year too!
