George Carley is raising money for YMCA Doncaster
George takes on London Marathon 2026
My Story
I will be running the London Marathon on the 26th April 2026 in aid of YMCA Doncaster. From attending sixth form to my Dad's conquest in acquiring city status for the locality, Doncaster has played a formative role in shaping who I am today. YMCA Doncaster, therefore, felt like an apt choice as a charity that focuses on supporting other young people in that very community.
YMCA Doncaster falls under the YMCA umbrella of charities, with a specific focus on providing accomodation, alongside activities for children and youths. Across the country each year, YMCA provides 21,000 people experiencing homelessness a home and works with a further 230,000 individuals with the ethos of setting up young people for the best possible start in life.
London will be my third marathon, having previously completed Manchester in 2022 and Brighton in 2025, alongside 9 half marathons. Running has played a huge part of my life for the last 8 years, and I'm thrilled to get the opportunity to participate in my first World Major on behalf of YMCA Doncaster. This time, I'm mixing things up, aiming to become the world's fastest cheerleader over 26.2 miles. The current record is 3:01, and I'm determined to bring the World Record certificate home in April 2026.
Any donations are hugely appreciated, and will help to make a real difference on the services that can be provided to young people across Doncaster.
