George K - Raising Money for Reading Family Aid
My Story
Hi! I'm George đź‘‹
Some quick facts about me:
- I was born in Reading in 1998 and lived there until I was 19.
- I currently live in London, and running the London Marathon has been a lifelong dream.
- I can identify most world flags in a few seconds (completely unrelated, but a fun party trick).
When I left Reading, I was so focused on seeing the world and chasing new experiences that I didn’t fully appreciate the place I came from. It’s only with a bit of distance that I’ve come to realise just how lucky I was to grow up in such a vibrant, diverse, and welcoming town. Reading is full of people from all walks of life, and there's a strong sense of community that quietly supports those who need it most.
That’s why I’ve decided to combine my dream of running the London Marathon with my desire to give something back to the town that raised me.
After some research, I came across an amazing charity called Reading Family Aid. They support children living in poverty or facing other disadvantages across the Reading area. They do this by providing toys at Christmas and organising fun outings throughout the year for families who otherwise couldn’t afford them, all to help bring joy to children who need it most.
Reading Family Aid is powered by an incredible group of volunteers who truly embody the best of Reading’s spirit. As soon as I learned about their work, I knew this was the cause I wanted to run for, and I'm incredibly humbled that they chose me to represent them at the 2026 London Marathon.
So, if you’re able to spare anything (no matter how small!) please consider donating to Reading Family Aid. Your support will go directly towards helping local children experience the kind of joy that every child deserves.
Thank you so much đź’›
