My Story
🏃♂️ From Coma to the London Marathon 2026 – My Fight for Life and Hope
In April 2025, I nearly lost my life
I suffered a hyperthermic cardiac arrest whilst cold water sea swimming, a catastrophic event that stopped my heart and put me in a coma. I don’t remember those terrifying days, but my family does. They were told to prepare for the worst. Survival was not expected and if it was I might never walk, talk, or live independently again.
But I’m still here. And I’m not just surviving—I’m running (well currently trying!).
On April 26, 2026, I’ll be standing on the start line of the London Marathon. 26.2 miles of grit, gratitude, and sheer determination.
This isn’t just a race for me—it’s a personal declaration: that life after trauma is possible!
🏠 I’m fundraising for Shelter, an organisation working to end homelessness and housing insecurity in the UK. They provide support, shelter, advocacy, and hope to people who need it most.
I work in social housing today, but my connection to this world is personal. I raised my children in and around housing instability — overcrowded flats, temporary accommodation, long nights waiting for some kind of certainty. I know what it’s like not to feel safe in your own home, or to not have one at all.
Those experiences didn’t break me — they built my purpose. Now, I spend my days helping people navigate the same housing system that once left me behind. But the fight for safe, secure, affordable housing is far from over. Every day, I see families stuck in limbo, waiting for the dignity of a stable home.
So I’m running 26.2 miles — one for every mile, and one for every story like mine both for Shelter and for the soul
Your donation will go directly toward helping people access housing, fight unfair evictions, and find safety where there’s none.
