Running London Marathon for Codebar
Ilona Utting
My Story
In 2026, I’ll be running the London Marathon in support of Codebar, a charity that’s incredibly close to my heart. As one of the volunteer organisers of the Codebar Norwich branch, I’m very proud to represent this global movement and see the life-changing impact it has.
As a woman and someone from a minority background, I know firsthand the stereotypes and barriers that can make it harder to break into tech. I also know how a little mentoring, encouragement, and others believing in you goes a long way.
That’s why Codebar’s mission is so important to me. They’re an international non-profit, running workshops across dozens of cities and countries worldwide, creating welcoming spaces where underrepresented groups - women, LGBTQ+ people, and minority communities - can learn to code, connect with mentors, and build their careers in tech.
Running has been a passion of mine for a long time, and I’m thrilled that my next marathon will be about more than just miles - breaking stereotypes, breaking down stigmas, and helping to build brighter futures for others.
For me, as a new mum, it is also about showing my daughter that she can achieve anything she sets to do.
And finally, it’s about paying forward the kindness I once received. Your donation could be that chance for someone to change their life. ❤️
