My Story

🏃🏼‍♀️ I’m running the London Marathon for Action for Children! 🏃🏼‍♀️

On Sunday 26th April, I’ll be taking on my biggest challenge yet, the iconic London Marathon, raising money for Action for Children, a charity that supports vulnerable children, young people and families across the UK.

Many of my friends and family know how close this cause is to my heart. In 2023, my parents fostered a little boy who needed stability while decisions were made about his future. Being part of his life showed me how many children face uncertainty, hardship or trauma and how stretched the systems supporting them often are.

That’s why I’m running for Action for Children. Though they weren’t part of our own fostering journey, they play a vital role in supporting children and families long before situations reach crisis point. They help those facing poverty, neglect, abuse and mental health challenges, offering practical support, emotional care and safe, trusted services across the UK. They step in when families are overwhelmed and children are slipping through the net, and they campaign for lasting change so every child has the chance to thrive.

As a former teacher, I have worked with children of all ages and seen how vital a strong support network is, not only for them but for the adults raising them. My time teaching in Portsmouth highlighted the support that many children need, both during and after the school day. Action for Children can provide that support, through stepping in when it matters most to help build safer, brighter futures.

Training for this marathon will be a massive personal test. It is not only the 26.2 miles or the fundraising goal but also the ongoing battle with shin splints! Every donation, no matter the size, genuinely lifts me and will help carry me through the next six months of training.

If you would like to follow along, my Strava is linked below, where I will share each run, wobble and small win. If you are in London and fancy joining me for a training run, I would love the company. Just send me a message!

If you are able to donate, in any amount, it would mean the world to me, my family and the children and families supported by Action for Children.

Thank you so much for your kindness and support!

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
