My Story
I'm taking on my first ever marathon for Brooke, a charity very close to my heart where I have first hand experience of the amazing impact our work has on horses, donkeys, mules and their owners around the world!
When I started running during lockdown in 2021, I absolutely NEVER thought I would be able to run a marathon! But, as my fitness has built up to running 10ks and halfs, and I've watched friends do marathons, doing a marathon has been a goal for a couple of years and where else could I do my first one than London? I am so excited to run further than ever before, whilst also pretty terrified of the big day and some of the grim winter long training runs in the build up.
I'm putting myself through it all to raise money for the wonderful charity I get to call my place of work! I've been a Brooke supporter since I was 10, and have worked here for 2 years which has been a dream. Brooke changes the lives of animals, their owners and their communities in over 15 countries, and I have been lucky enough to travel to programmes in Africa and Asia to see the impact our work has.
From training local animal health workers to provide high quality equine veterinary care around the globe, to supporting infrastructure projects installing clean water drinking points in Kenya, to getting pain relief medicine licensed and available for animals in Ethiopia for the first time, Brooke truly does amazing work.
