My Story
This coming April I’m running the London Marathon on behalf of 3Food4U, an incredible charity that tackles poverty and food waste at the same time. They provide free groceries, essential items, clothing, and household goods to anyone who needs them. Their hubs across Essex and Hertfordshire support families who are struggling and they also run classes, holiday clubs, and employment workshops to help people rebuild confidence and stability. Their work is volunteer led and recently recognised with the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, which says everything you need to know about the impact they have.
Through my work, I see every day how much good food goes to waste and how easily it could be rerouted to people who genuinely rely on it. At goodnus we work with incredible suppliers to provide high quality, nutritious food, and it hits home how many households simply don’t have that access. Food poverty isn’t just about having enough to eat, it’s about being able to stay healthy and live with the same choices and respect everyone else takes for granted.
Right now in the UK, around one in four households in low income brackets struggles with food insecurity, and healthy food is often the first thing to disappear when budgets collapse. Families are forced to choose cheaper, less nutritious options, and the long term impact on physical and mental health is huge. That is why organisations like 3Food4U are so important.
Running the marathon will be a massive challenge for me. But it is still nothing compared with the daily pressure some families face when they are simply trying to put healthy food on the table. If a few hours of pain on the streets of London helps raise money for people who are dealing with far tougher challenges, then it is absolutely worth it.
Every donation, big or small, genuinely makes a difference.
Thank you so much for supporting this and supporting 3Food4U.
