My Story

Running for AJ

On the 16th April 2024, I lost my lifelong best friend to Sepsis age 31. I made my way to Newmarket for a day at the races when I received a call from his Wife Hannah at around midday explaining he had been taken to hospital and admitted to Intensive care with suspected Sepsis. By 6pm that evening I received the call to say that AJ was no longer with us and had passed.

Since that moment I've wanted to do all I can to create something positive out of a truly horrendous event. Our first ever National hunt horse was named after my best friend and is called "My Mate AJ". AJ loved the races and the Cheltenham Festival was his highlight, he's a huge reason why I fell in love with the sport.

I never really knew much about Sepsis before this and I want to do all I can to help spread the word about its symptoms. I wanted to run the London Marathon for Sepsis in AJ's memory last year but I was unsuccessful and I was unsuccessful this year too until about it 3 weeks ago when someone pulled out and there was a space. I hadn't been running anything over 3 miles and with 10 weeks notice it sure does look a huge challenge but I feel privileged to have this opportunity to spread awareness and raise money for this charity in memory of AJ.

All donations are hugely appreciated! Every £10 donation will get you 1 entry into our huge racing raffle which will be drawn the week after the marathon! Thank you for all of your donations!
