Jane Hull London Marathon fundraising
Jane Hull
My Story
I was a keen amateur runner and triathlete until recently. During the last couple of years I've enjoyed guiding visually impaired runners. But in September 2024 I was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma, a non cancerous brain tumour. I had major brain surgery in December 2024 which has resulted in total loss of hearing in one ear, tinnitus and poor balance due to my left vestibular nerve being removed. I can't run or walk easily in the dark which is making training through the winter interesting.
With the help of a brilliant PT and lots of grit and determination, I've battled to get my health and fitness back to the point I can now run 10 miles and a sub 25 min 5km. I've resumed guide running with Julia and also as a volunteer guide at Beacon park run. My own illness gave me a little insight into sight loss as I experienced double vision and eye stability issues making walking hard. This helped me to understand a little some of the issues visually impaired people encounter daily.
Running the London marathon is an important part of my recovery plan but also a great opportunity to raise money for a wonderful cause. Please sponsor me no matter how little every penny really counts and will motivate me to continue my recovery
