My Story
In April 2026, I’ll be taking on something I never imagined I would do: running the London Marathon. I’m not a runner, and this challenge will push me far outside my comfort zone—but I’m determined. I’m determined because I’m running for a cause that changed my family’s life: Young Lives vs Cancer.
In April 2023, our world stopped when Hartley was diagnosed with leukaemia. Nothing prepares you for those words. Overnight, everything became hospital rooms, treatment plans, and fear of the unknown. In the middle of all of that, Young Lives vs Cancer stepped in—not just with support, but with genuine care, compassion, and practical help that made an impossible situation a little more bearable.
They provided us with a dedicated social worker who guided us through things we didn’t even know we needed. Just as importantly, they gave us a room in Bristol, right next to the hospital, so we could always be close to Hartley. It meant the world that our other two children could stay with us during weekends and school holidays. We could be together as a family—a small piece of normal in the most unthinkable time.
I’m running this marathon because Young Lives vs Cancer were there when we needed them most. And now, I want to give something back. I want more families facing childhood cancer to have the same support, the same safe place, the same hope.
This won’t be easy for me—but every mile, every ache, every training run is worth it for an incredible charity that changes lives every single day.
If you’re able to donate, share, or simply follow my journey, it would mean everything. Together, we can help support children with cancer and their families when they need it most.
Thank you for believing in this cause—and for believing in me.
