My Story
Listen up, pals...
In April 2026, I’ll be running the London Marathon for the British Red Cross - a sentence that still feels slightly unhinged every time I read it back.
Watch my fundraising video here!
I’m doing this in memory of my wonderful dad, Mick, who worked for the British Red Cross for many years and was incredibly proud of the work they do. Dad believed deeply in helping people when they’re at their most vulnerable - whether that’s supporting communities after emergencies, helping people feel less alone, teaching lifesaving first aid, or offering calm, practical help when life is at its toughest. To him, the Red Cross wasn’t just a job - it was about kindness, dignity, and showing up when it really matters.
So why a marathon? Well… he didn't raise a quitter.
This isn’t my first charity challenge. I once rode 50 miles on a vintage bike with no derailleur (for non-cyclists: that means one gear, forever). My legs still haven’t forgiven me, but I survived (and apparently learned nothing), so 26.2 miles through London feels like the natural next step.
I’ll be running with Dad very much in mind, even as I'm being overtaken by someone carrying a fridge - his pride, his values, and his belief in doing good quietly and consistently. Every donation will help the British Red Cross continue their vital work across the UK, making sure people aren’t left alone during emergencies, crises, or some of the hardest days of their lives.
If you’re able to donate, you won’t just be helping an amazing charity - you’ll also be fueling me through months of training runs, questionable playlists (shout out to the Rocky theme tune), and the inevitable moment around mile 20 where I potentially hallucinate that I am, in fact, Big Ben.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for supporting, donating, and helping me honour my dad - the kindest man - in the most exhausting way possible. ❤️
Let's go get that medal.
Jessica
p.s. I'll be uploading a weekly blog/vlog below, so do give it a read/watch so you can stay up to date with how I'm gettin on in training xoxo
