My Story
I’m thrilled (and a little nervous!) to be running the 2026 London Marathon in support of the RCN Foundation. The London Marathon is one of the world’s most iconic sporting events – not just for the incredible challenge of running 26.2 miles, but for the powerful impact it has through fundraising.
I’m so proud to be a nurse, and supporting the people who care for others has always been close to my heart. Running for the RCN Foundation is my way of giving something back to the nursing community that gives so much to others. The Foundation does incredible work – from helping nurses, midwives and healthcare support workers through tough times, to supporting their learning and development – and I want to do my bit to make sure they have someone to turn to when times are hard and the support they deserve throughout their careers.
For me, this isn’t just about crossing the finish line. It’s about honouring my profession, raising awareness of the charity that’s there for us when we need it most, and challenging myself along the way. Training will be tough, but what will keep me going is knowing the impact your donations can have.
I’ve set myself the goal of raising £2,500, and every contribution, big or small, will bring me closer to that target and help support the incredible people who care for us all.
If you can, please consider sponsoring me – together we can make a difference. Thank you so much for your support!
About the RCN Foundation
The RCN Foundation is an independent UK charity that supports and strengthens nursing and midwifery to improve the health and wellbeing of the public. It is there for every current and former nurse, midwife, healthcare support worker, student and nursing associate.
The Foundation provides grants for those facing hardship, as well as funding for education and professional development to help individuals enhance their skills and grow in their careers. It also invests in the professions by supporting nursing and midwifery-led research and projects, while championing the vital role these professions play in improving the nation’s health.
In doing so, the RCN Foundation ensures that the nursing and midwifery community has the support it needs to thrive, both now and in the future.
About the London Marathon
The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.
Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.
What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
