My Story
Hi Everyone!
After 5 failed attempts at applying for the London Marathon, I have finally been accepted to run the TCS London Marathon 2026. Even better, I was lucky enough to get a ballot place, which means I can proudly run on behalf of the Oliver Curd Trust!
A little about the trust, and why it means so much to me:
The Oliver Curd Trust was founded in 2008 in memory of my older brother, Oli, who was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma in April 2006 and sadly passed away in November 2007. Oli’s bravery and spirit inspired the creation of the trust, which continues his legacy by supporting children and families going through unimaginably tough times.
The trust provides holiday accommodation for families affected by childhood cancer and other life-threatening or life-limiting conditions, including those who are bereaved. These breaks give families the chance to make special memories, find moments of happiness, and escape the challenges they are facing, even if just for a little while.
To know Oli was to love him. He was kind, caring, and unbelievably brave. From his Doctor Who & train obsession to living out his dream of swimming with dolphins (still not over the fact I wasn’t old enough to join him!) he lived life with passion and joy. Like all brothers, we bickered, play-fought and drove our parents crazy but we were inseparable - whether he liked it or not. I always looked up to my big brother and I feel so lucky to have had someone as courageous and inspiring as him in my life.
Running the marathon is not only a personal challenge, but also a chance to honour Oli’s memory and shine a light on the incredible work the trust has been doing for nearly 20 years. I am so grateful to everyone who has supported the trust over the years and helped to keep my brother’s legacy alive - it means more to me than words can say.
And most importantly... I’ll also be aiming to smash my mum and dad’s marathon times along the way!
Any donation, big or small, will make a huge difference and help more families benefit from the comfort, joy, and respite the trust provides.
Thank you so much for your support - it really means the world!
