My Story

After many years of applying to run the London Marathon, I finally won a place through the ballot and want take on this challenge to raise money for the brilliant Teesside Charity. I enjoy running ( quite often with my dog Simba) but this is my first marathon and will be pushing myself harder than I've ever done before, both mentally and physically to  reach the finish line. Support me to do this and raise money for such a worthwhile cause helping people and communities across Teesside.

About the charity

The Teesside Charity’s key function is to financially aid charities, community groups, schools and initiatives based within the Tees Valley who provide support to those who find themselves at a disadvantage in the society they live in.

The Tees Valley is a deprived area of the UK. It has higher crime rates, more pupils eligible for free school meals and higher unemployment than the national average. However, it also has great resilience and motivation to excel in areas and together we can strive for a better Tees Valley.

During 2025 the Charity has supported the following:

  • 25 groups receiving a share of £25,000 in their Golden Giveaway.
  • 101 families enjoyed a short free of charge break in one of the charities caravans.
  • 6 groups receive a share of £5,000 in their Pitching for Purpose event
  • Supported five Teesside University scholarships.
  • Celebrated 12 Teesside Hero awards.
  • 285 people from the groups and charities they support have attended a Middlesbrough Football game, often their first football match!
  • Over £56,073 of Hardship funding distributed, helping over 2,870 individuals.
  • Over 200 groups, charities, clubs received a share of £277,757.59
  • Over 3,400 children will wake up on Christmas morning to a main present, a few stocking fillers and a selection box .
  • There have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the London Marathon's history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
