My Story

About me

I am 65 years old and have been retired for 5 years

I started running in about 1975 as a way of relaxing from what were then my ‘O’ level exams and I am still going! At a very rough estimate I have run about 80,000 miles.

 This is my 23^rd London Marathon and I have done about 40 marathons in total and over 900 races of various distances.

Obviously the big national charities do a fantastic job but I always prefer to raise funds for a local charity. Local charities like the Spring Centre have a smaller budget so my donation will make a much bigger difference.

My Dad used to go to a day centre and he really enjoyed it. Then he had to stop going because of lack of funds and he was heart broken. I don’t want the same thing to happen to the children and young adults who currently go to the Spring centre. I am sure it is a life line for them and their families .

I am all too aware that cuts are being made everywhere which makes centres like the Spring Centre even more important and I want to do everything I can to help.
