My Story
In April 2026 I’ll be completing the London Marathon to raise awareness and funds for Nystagmus Network. Nystagmus is a complex eye condition that causes visual impairment and affects the ability to focus, see the world in 3D and recognise faces.
In 2021 my daughter Maya was born with Oculocutaneous Albinism and Congenital Nystagmus. I aim to fundraise £5000 that will support research into the causes of Nystagmus, an understanding of how it might be prevented, and how those living with Nystagmus may be able to have an improved quality of life.
Running 26 miles in 2026 for you Maya:
Would you look at my daughter
And her hair that’s so white
Would you think about nystagmus
And helping her sight?
Because this cute little girl
With the bluest of eyes
Will not need to worry because her mummy tries
To raise awareness and knowledge of life with albinism
and how her diagnosis has affected her vision
Can we think about the charity
That could help Myah’s vision
And would you please consider me …
before you make your decision
You see I’m Myah’s mummy
and I want her to know
That goals and determination
will help her to grow
Because this little girl
Who is only just 3
Deserves the same choices in life
As children who see
We need money for research to help with our plight
To help make life better
For those impaired of their sight
And I’ll work hard, and I’ll train
To run in this race
And I’ll think of my daughter and her perfect face
So, I hope you will give me
a place in this run
For Nystagmus, for charity
Because I’m Myah’s mum….
Thank you ❤️
