Knibbs 26 London marathon
Sam Knibbs
My Story
Ola kiddos,
This is my fundraising page for anyone that wishes to support me and the charity I am supporting for the '26 London Marathon, for which fate has given me a place in for 2026. The charity is the Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals Charity.
On my Birthday last year I had a phone call from one of the Specialists at Ipswich Hospital to let me know that a cancerous Melanoma lump in my shoulder had metastasised into my liver at told me I was a stage four cancer patient. In some ways, it was the worst birthday of my life... but in others, I was in my campervan with my wonderful wife and enjoying everything that this beautiful world has to offer us all, so it was also a pretty good birthday!
This last year has been a whirlwind... The medication, the effects of the medication, the two spine fractures, the months of missed padel, all the restrictions at work and the emotional trauma for me and those closest to me. But... Despite the ongoing drama, I am hopeful after a series of positive scans and reports from the guys at Ipswich Hospital I will be in a position to run the marathon this April.
For all my ride and dies, i'm eternally grateful for your support and love which has meant more to me than any one of you will ever know, big love.
However, love, friendship and care isn't all that's kept me here. The NHS, the guys at Woolverstone clinic at Ipswich Hospital and the Ipswich Cancer Wellbeing and Support Centre have given me every thing I can do to positively move forward with a treatment plan that my National Insurance contributions would never cover in a life time. The support and care that I have had to lean on for everyday since diagnosis has been backed by the team at the Hospital all the way.
The NHS can't afford my treatment or fund these services on their own. This is why I want to run and give all I can to support anyone else that may need these services. The Colchester and Ipswich Hosptials Charity feed directly into treatment and support services for those in our communities who have been impacted by Cancer.
Big love my G's, see you at the finish line ❤️
